On Friday the Lymington Society and the Friends of Sir Harry jointly presented a talk from Dan Snow about the British Navy in the 18th Century, and Sir Harry Burrard Neale’s place in it.
We’ve never had a sell-out for
a social meeting before, and apologies to those members who were unable to attend. We packed the Fuller-McClellan Hall to its fire safety limit.
The talk itself was a fantastic hour of largely impromptu information and entertainment, full of fascinating insights into the importance of the Navy in 18th Century Britain. It was an incredibly expensive undertaking, but it fuelled the industrial revolution, with its demand for high quality steel, and the latest in machinery, and it enabled the expansion of the empire.
Many thanks to Dan for this tremendous talk
