The Lymington Society is calling on all residents who care about the future of our town to attend a Public Meeting about the forthcoming Neighbourhood Plan Referendum. This is a key opportunity for the community to come together, understand what is being proposed, and ensure that Lymington’s voice is heard.
The meeting will take place at 6.00 pm on Thursday, 15 January 2025, at the Baptist Church, New Street, Lymington.
The Neighbourhood Plan will help shape how Lymington evolves over the coming years—how development is managed, how our heritage is protected, and how the needs of local people are balanced with the pressures facing the town. The Lymington Society has organised this meeting so residents can clearly understand the plan’s aims, the thinking behind its policies, and the real‑world implications of a “Yes” or “No” vote.
Speakers at the meeting will explain how the plan was created, what it seeks to safeguard, and how it could influence planning decisions affecting housing, infrastructure, and the town’s historic environment. There will also be time for questions, ensuring everyone has the chance to raise concerns, seek clarification, and make an informed decision in the referendum.
The Society is grateful to Cllr Jack Davies, who was Chair of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Committee of the Town Council, who will be taking part in the meeting.
The Lymington Society strongly encourages all residents to attend. The future of our town is too important to leave to others—your knowledge, your views, and your vote genuinely matter.
Don Mackenzie, Chair of the Lymington Society, said:
“This referendum will influence decisions that affect every one of us—from the character of our streets to the protection of our green spaces. It is vital that residents understand what the Neighbourhood Plan contains and what their vote will mean. We urge everyone who cares about Lymington’s future to come along, ask questions, and make their voice count.”
